As we learned from his presidential campaign, Donald Trump is not a man of integrity. Fact checkers were working overtime whenever he got on stage and said something – especially during his debates with Hillary Clinton. Now Trump has declared this week to be “Made in America” week in a desperate attempt to appease his disgruntled blue-collar workers. While it is noble of him to want to promote goods manufactured in the United States, too bad Trump’s own products – from his clothing line to his buildings – use foreign materials and labor. It just makes the president look like a hypocrite again.
Because Trump-branded products use Chinese labor and other foreign countries, Trump’s “Made in America” week is already imploding. And for all his hatred of Mexican immigrants, Trump employs them and Chinese workers to manufacture the clothes that have his named on them. Although he doesn’t want the public to know this, those that can turn on a television already do know it. It was a major embarrassment for him while running for president.
Now his foreign loyalties are biting him in the behind again.
Trump buildings are not even America. They are manufactured using steel and aluminum that Trump imported from China. And like many lies the president has issued forth during his term, what is being reported is only the tip of the iceberg.
Last week, The Washington Post reported that Ivanka Trump, the president’s daughter and White House aide, has employed sweat shop workers from China, Indonesia, and Bangladesh to make her low-quality clothing.
As his “Made In America” week shines the spotlight on the horrors his family keeps committing, Trump tasked White House spokeswoman Helen Aguirre Ferre to put out the media fire. On Sunday, she was asked if Trump would use “Made in America” week to push his daughter’s fashion line to be made in the United States.
She was blindsided and has no proper response.
“We’ll get back to you on that,” she said, according to Politico.
Social media critics laughed at her inept reply and already know her response is not coming. Instead, opponents have resorted to blasting Trump and his family for not practicing what they preach – and using low-wage workers to make their low-quality goods for profit.
Twitter exploded with comments. Here were a few:
“Will they also hold a not made in America week to showcase all of the Trump family products?” wrote BJ Cohen.
Katsura Leaf shared “Will the declaration require all Trump family products to be made in US, too?”
“Too bad they can’t show any products made by the Trump family,” added Dan Pfeiffer.
“#MadeInAmericaWeek won’t Trump supporters have to take off their #MakeAmericaGreatAgain hats this week?” shared another.
Colonel Morris Davis shared, “Obviously they won’t be highlighting @realDonaldTrump or @IvankaTrump products that are made everywhere but the U.S.”
“What a joke considering none of the Trumps brands are made in America! #sad#TrumpRussia”
