When reality TV star, Donald Trump, was running for president back in 2016, his main talking point was the wall he wanted to build to isolate America from Mexico. And during his first year as president, he has furthered his “America first,” mentality at the detriment to global collaboration and momentum. While tricking his base into voting for him, Trump constantly talked about how he was going to get Mexico to pay for the border wall. But less than a month into his presidency, a tape was released where Trump spoke to the President of Mexico and caved on getting Mexico to pay for the expensive structure.
Now, less than a year into his presidency, Trump is asking Congress to hand over $18 billion to pay for the wall. That’s right. Trump failed to get Mexico to pay for the border wall and is now collaterally taking the money out of humanitarian efforts like CHIP and food stamps to get a wall that most Americans do not even want.
Now, the former president of Mexico, Vicente Fox, who is an outspoken critic of Trump, like most people with sense are, has turned to Twitter to humiliate the man in the Oval Office further.
While it is easy to embarrass Trump (all you need to do is project his own words onto his crumbling hotel), Fox had a great way to do it that millions of Americans will appreciate.
In a provocative tweet, Fox wrote, “Donald Trump, I was wondering, what’s your urgency with building such a wall? America, I need your opinion: LIKE if you think he’s really worried about U.S. security or RT if you think he’s in a hurry because he’s failed in every other promise.”
As you can imagine, the retweets outnumber the likes three to one.
Fox’s creative Twitter poll has only been online for a day (at the time of this writing), but already America is speaking out against Trump’s inadequacy. While most people disagree with his desire to build a wall, millions of former Trump fans are upset that he has not followed through on his promise to get Mexico to pay for the wall.
Trump is desperately fighting to get the wall built because he has nothing else to point to in his effort to fix immigration problems. And his failure is beginning to look very bad to his base.
Even Trump’s acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Thomas Homan, claimed that Trump built his campaign on a lie, that lie being that illegal immigrants commit more crimes than native-born Americans. Statistics show that this is simply not true.
Jim Acosta reported on Twitter, “At off-cam WH briefing acting ICE Dir. Horman concedes undocumented immigrants do not commit more crimes than native-born Americans.”
Because Trump wants Americans to be afraid of Mexicans and other migrants coming up through the southern border, he began his campaign for president on the false claim that undocumented Mexican immigrants were “rapists.”
What do you think about Trump’s failures with his border wall?
